Hi everyone, I thought I would drop in to re-introduce myself on this brand spanking new website of mine. My name is Matthew Norman, and I live in Sydney, Australia, where the weather is beautiful, and the coffee is always better than whatever you’re drinking. I’m a Christian, husband to Christina, father of three (Hope, Eliora, and Phoebe), and an engineer. I’m a man of few passions, but many interests; mathematics, science, guitar, coffee (I brew my own espresso daily), and of course, reading and writing, to name but a few. My hobbies are rather eclectic, and I think that probably comes from my dual passions for engineering and art.
As a father, I spend most of my days trying to keep up with my three little ones, but when I’m not doing that, I can usually be found with my nose buried in a book. I’ve always been a voracious reader, and I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time devouring fantasy novels, scores of Christian books, and even science textbooks (yes, I'm fully aware of how strange that is). And, as if that wasn’t enough to keep me busy, I’m also now a writer of young-adult fantasy. I’m finally taking the leap from reader to writer, and I’m currently working on my first book, “The Assassin’s Hand.” It’s the first of a three-part series called “The Hope of Brantur,” and I’m excited to share it with you.
As an engineer, I’m used to coming up with creative solutions to problems, and as it turns out, that’s a pretty handy skill to have as a writer. I use the same methods to come up with the twists and turns of my plotline as I do when trying to solve complex engineering issues. It's not the typical approach to writing, I imagine, but I think it's something that my readers will appreciate.
I’m a down-to-earth kind of guy, as many Aussies are, and I like to think that part of me comes across in my writing as well. I’m keen to share my journey as a writer with you, so stick around and subscribe to my mailing list for updates and sneak peeks into The Assassin’s Hand!
